Corner Anchor Insertion Complete
Window Anchoring Started

As of the week of June 5th, the insertion of anchors into the four corners of the mill has been completed. This includes the injection of the mortar.

The picture below illustrates the Cintec mortar having expanded within the mesh surrounding the anchor to conform to the contour of a drilled hole. In this case, the anchor is centered in the hole with a uniform volume of mortar surrounding it.

As discussed in previous updates, pressurized mortar can also fill voids which are larger than the hole. This, in effect, further "locks" the anchor. The mortar, contained in the mesh, has the ability to expand to a diameter of 4 inches. (As a point of reference, the hole diameter is about 1 ½ inches.) The following picture illustrates this effect in an open area where a vertical window anchor extends below the window opening. Note that the anchor itself is threaded and looks like a large stainless steel bolt.

Within the next few weeks, additional scaffolding will be erected on the outside of the walls to allow drilling to begin for the long vertical wall anchors on the north, west and east sides of the mill.

The "second" on-site construction project, the ChapmansMill.org sign, was completed on June 6th. It was designed by Joe Alonge to be robust enough to last for a significant fund raising period.

Anchoring of the window opening areas has commenced. This will be the main focus in the near term.
