Stabilization Work Progresses Despite Inclement Weather

The prolonged heavy rainfall that has recently plagued the mid-Atlantic area has not had a major impact on the progress of stabilization work at the mill site. Personnel from Davis Structural have indicated that Broad Run, at least in the vicinity of the mill, has remained relatively well behaved despite local deluges and resultant runoff.

During the week of the 19th of June, anchoring of all of the windows has been completed. Work has now started on the drilling for the main vertical anchors. During the week of the 26th of June, drilling equipment has been put in place on the upper scaffolds and drilling has started at the top center of the north wall.

Some minor lower level anchoring detail work remains unfinished and has been reserved for demonstration purposes during the planned open house scheduled for July 8, 2006. Details of this can be located on the Chapmans Mill Tour button on the home page.
