Chapman's Mill

Beam Reinforcement Status

Cintec has updated Prince William County with the minimally revised plans for the steel beam reinforcement. An order has been placed with the steel fabricator. The steel will then need to be cut then galvanized before being shipped to the mill. This will be an approximate three week process commencing on or about May 15th.

When the steel arrives, plans are for a crane to arrive at the same time to allow placement of the beams.

All holes for bolts to attach the mounting plates have been drilled. Currently, temporary plywood templates have been placed at each of the mounting sites. These templates will be replaced with steel plates that will be affixed to the stone walls. The beams will then be welded to these plates to complete this phase of the stabilization process.

The picture below depicts how the mill presently appears.
