Progress Midway on Long Vertical Anchors

As if the 11th of July, progress is approaching the midway point on the installation of the long vertical anchors on the east side of the mill structure. Two of the anchors are in place, with one of them to be grouted. This leaves two more of the long anchors to be inserted and fixed on this side. It is anticipated that this task will be completed on or about July 21st.

Placement Design of Anchors on the East Elevation

This will be the only side requiring this level of fortification for the current phase of the stabilization effort. Some additional vertical anchoring was completed at the tops of the other sides, with staggered anchors of length ranging from eight to ten feet installed. These provide enhanced structural integrity in the upper portions of the structure where design did not indicate the necessity for a more aggressive approach.

A successful open house for the public was conducted on July 8th. During this time, residual work on corner anchors that was being reserved for public demonstrations was completed. Corner and window anchoring can now be considered complete.

The major stabilization work remaining includes window timbering and steel bracing in the interior area of the mill.
